Kolej Islam Malaya (Muslim College Malaya) was established on 24th February 1955, with the gathering of 55 students from all over the Federation of Malaya including Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Sabah and Sarawak, who had performed successfully in the Entrance Examination. Soon, a few main courses to be introduced at the College were drawn up and approved by the Council of KIM. The official Opening Ceremony of the College, which was almost a national occasion, was held on 8th April 1955. On the previous day, the Working Committee was replaced by the first Council of the College under its Constitution and YBhg. Dato’ Alsagoff was elected the first Chairman.
